Refund & reallocation policy

How a payment made through a BINYANAD payment page is recorded, and how requests to refund or reallocate it are handled.

Status: operational draft, version 2026-09-refund-reallocation-v1. This page describes how BINYANAD currently handles payments. It is not legal advice and does not create rights or obligations beyond those in our Terms of use and Privacy notice, which a payer accepts together with this policy when confirming a payment. Where this page and the Terms differ, the Terms apply. This draft may be revised; the version shown at the time of a payment is the one recorded with it.

1. What a payment is

A payment made through a BINYANAD payment link is recorded against the funds account of the one candidate named on the payment page. The candidate, the last four characters of the account reference and the exact amount are shown before the payer confirms. Payments are not general donations and are not split between candidates.

BINYANAD acts as the recipient of the payment and keeps a record of it. This page does not describe an escrow, trust or client-money arrangement, and none should be inferred from it.

2. How a payment is recorded

  • The payer's email address is verified with a one-time code before confirming.
  • Where the family has asked for it, a named family contact must approve the payment before the payment page opens. No charge is attempted before that approval.
  • A payment is recorded as received only after the payment provider confirms it to BINYANAD. Until then it is shown as pending and is not counted as received.
  • BINYANAD aims to email a receipt to the payer for each confirmed payment. Email delivery cannot be guaranteed; the payment provider's own receipt, where issued, remains the primary record of the charge.

3. Refund requests

Payments are intended to be final once confirmed. BINYANAD will nevertheless consider refund requests, for example where the wrong amount was paid or the wrong candidate was selected.

  • Requests should be sent through the contact page as soon as possible, quoting the reference shown on the payment page or receipt. BINYANAD reviews each request individually; there is no fixed period within which a refund is guaranteed.
  • Whether a refund is made, and for how much, is decided by BINYANAD in consultation with the candidate's family. Amounts that have already been applied to a matchmaker settlement or otherwise used are generally not refundable.
  • Where a refund is made, it is returned to the original payment method only. BINYANAD does not refund to a different card, bank account or person.
  • A refund reduces the recorded funds for that candidate by the refunded amount. BINYANAD aims to inform the family when this happens.

4. Reallocation requests

A family may ask for funds recorded against one candidate to be recorded against another candidate in the same family instead. Reallocation is not available from the public payment page and is never automatic. BINYANAD may agree to a reallocation, at its discretion, typically where all of the following apply:

  • the request comes from the family manager or the family's named contact;
  • the original payer has been informed and has not objected;
  • the amount has not yet been applied to a settlement; and
  • an administrator records the reallocation, after which it appears in both accounts.

A reallocation is recorded as a refund from one account and a corresponding entry in the other so that each account's history remains complete. Agreeing to one reallocation does not commit BINYANAD to agree to another.

5. Disputes and chargebacks

If a payment is disputed with the card issuer or payment provider, the disputed amount is no longer counted as received while the dispute is open. If the dispute is resolved in BINYANAD's favour the amount is counted again; if it is not, the payment is treated as refunded. Payers are asked to contact BINYANAD before opening a dispute, as most concerns can be resolved more quickly directly.

6. Cancelled or expired payment links

A payment link may be cancelled by BINYANAD or may expire. No charge is made through a cancelled or expired link. If a payment was already in progress when a link was cancelled, that payment is either confirmed by the provider and recorded normally, or not taken at all.

7. Contact

Questions about a payment, refund or reallocation should be sent through the contact page, quoting the reference shown on the payment page or receipt. Please never share a verification code with anyone — BINYANAD will never ask for it.
